And never run out of ideas again

Content creation is becoming more important in the world of business and personal branding. If you’re reading this, I’m pretty sure you have more that two social media accounts, and almost everyone you know has at least one (even if it’s just Facebook). There’s now a higher chance that your target audience is on one of these platforms and you will be missing out on connecting with them if you are not creating content.

It’s possible that if you are new to creating content online (just like me), you have struggled at least once in having a system with creating content. This is why I will be sharing my personal process as well as tools/software which I use for my brand.

My Tools for the Trade

Before you even think of creating content, you will need some gear and software to help you out. Oh, and don’t worry, you definitely do not need to have the latest digital camera to get started. Personally, I make my videos with my Infinix Phone. After I am done with recording a session, I do my video editing with InShot. This is a video making/editing app which is really straightforward to use. You can get it here on Google PlayStore for the amazing price of free.

As a graphic designer, I’m used to working with Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator for my graphic content and images. But asides these, there are many apps which can help out with creating graphic content. Canva is a really good choice which gives you access to a lot of free templates you can use for your brand. Just like InShot, its really easy to use as well. I’ve also had my friends recommend PicsArt for editing photos so you could use this for your content creation as well.

Coming Up with Content Ideas

For most of us, this is the difficult part. And yes, I can already hear your thoughts. How will I get ideas? How will I create content consistently? I for one have tried different strategies for this but I really love the tip which Chris Do from TheFutur gives in this video. The highlight is when he talked about Task, Gap and Opportunity.

The Task — Take out your notepad and put down things which you feel that your audience is trying to achieve. What goals are they trying to achieve in their lives or their business today.

The Gap — This is where your audience is struggling. Which of the tasks do you believe they are finding difficult and why? Brainstorm on the challenges which your audience might be facing with respect to their tasks (goals).

The Opportunity — Now this is where the ideas for your content lie. How can you solve those problems (gaps) your audience might be facing? Think of ways you can help your audience and create content around that.

With the Task — Gap — Opportunity model, I’m sure you will always have content ideas because there is always work to be done and problems to be solved.

Being Consistent

It’s one thing to create content but then, consistency is a whole other ball game. You can have all the ideas in the world but if you don’t work hard and be consistent about it, those ideas won’t do you any good. When starting out, I recommend getting a steady and comfortable rhythm with producing content.

Small steps. You could begin with one piece of content in 2 weeks. After a while, you could step it up to one post a week, and on and on. Just make sure that you create a schedule that you are comfortable with and be consistent with it. Personally, I create 3 pieces of content in a week for my social accounts. You can check out one of the videos I created recently here. I’ve tried this for a couple of weeks and I think it’s ideal for me. Find what suits you and stick to it.

One More Word

If you want your audience to know who you are, then you have to work towards making yourself and your brand knowable. I really want to encourage you to CREATE MORE CONTENT. This is one of the best forms of marketing right now and you will be missing out if you are not helping your audience with your content.

Stay Safe and have a great day!
